This is pretentious of me, but I really like the idea of ghosts as the reality of the past and future disrupting what we imagined the past and future to be— and maybe the idea of ghosts as undoing the world we live in in general.

Does an idea that completely changes your understanding of the world you live in count as supernatural? It maybe depends on how the term is defined. I think about this a lot in reference to the confusing Doctor Who serial “Ghost Light,” which I am now obsessed by and which does not really count as horror or a film

I'm a big believer of banning the word pretentious - as this CJ the X video suggests: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMpJFbwR8OM. Not pretentious at all! Love this idea of ghosts and hauntings. Ghosts are toxic nostalgia, ghosts are unresolved trauma, ghosts are love stories, ghosts are grief... And we grieve all sorts of things, not just death.

Yes! But not even toxic, necessarily. Ghosts as injustices that haven’t been put right, as pasts that existed and became obscured. I like the idea that it’s not ghosts we should be afraid of— but the world that said they were scary in the first place, because it fears they might succeed in seeking some justice
